The QMC is the easy one
The Queen's Medical Centre sits on Derby Road just west of the centre, and it is one of the few big hospitals in the country with a tram stop on the site itself. From the city centre or the station that is a short ride rather than a drive. If your paperwork says the Nottingham Treatment Centre, that is on the same campus, so you are going to the same place.
City Hospital is genuinely a drive
Nottingham City Hospital is up Hucknall Road in Sherwood, a few miles north of the centre, and no tram goes there. It is buses up Mansfield Road and Hucknall Road, or your own car. The site is large and spread out, so allow time between wherever you park and the ward you are actually on. For a rotation based there, that journey happens twice a day.
Crossing the city mid shift
The two main sites sit on opposite sides of Nottingham, one west and one north, and the route between them goes around or through the centre. It is not far in miles but it is slow at either end of the day. If your week splits across both, the middle of the city is often the least bad compromise, even though it is nobody's doorstep.
Sleeping through a Nottingham afternoon
Nights are the part that catches people out. Derby Road and Mansfield Road carry traffic all day, parts of Lenton and Dunkirk fill up with students in term time, and a flat that is quiet at ten at night can be a different building at two in the afternoon. Which way the bedroom faces and whether it sits on a main road matters more than the postcode.
Parking on site is optimistic
Hospital car parks here are permit led and full by the middle of the morning, and the Queen's Medical Centre is the tightest of them because the site is hemmed in by Derby Road and the university. Plenty of staff leave the car away from the hospital and walk the last bit, or use the tram and the park and ride sites on the Clifton side.
Eating at the wrong hours
Coming off a night at eight in the morning, the centre is barely awake beyond the coffee places near Old Market Square. Going on at nine in the evening, most kitchens have already stopped serving. The takeaways along Derby Road and Mansfield Road run later than the restaurants do. A proper kitchen and a freezer solve more of this than being close to anything.
If your placement is in the county
Not every Nottinghamshire placement is a Nottingham one. King's Mill at Sutton in Ashfield and Newark Hospital belong to a different trust and sit well outside the city. Both mean a drive, up the A611 or out along the A46, and neither is on the tram. Hucknall gets you part of the way north by tram or rail, but the last leg is still a car.
Somewhere to go on a rest day
Between runs of shifts it helps to have somewhere close that is not the hospital. Highfields Park sits across Derby Road from the Queen's Medical Centre, with a boating lake and the university's arts centre on it. The Arboretum is a short walk north of the centre and the Forest Recreation Ground lies beyond it. None of them cost anything on a quiet weekday.

The QMC is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the country and sits west of the centre next to the University of Nottingham. City Hospital is north, in Sherwood, and the two are far enough apart that which one you are working at decides where you should stay.
Can I park in Nottingham?
City centre parking is paid and the residential streets close in are permit zones. The tram and the park and ride sites take most of the pain out of it if you are commuting to the edge of the city, and are worth using rather than driving into the middle twice a day.
Which part of Nottingham should I be in?

The Castle, Wollaton, the Lace Market and the arena are all central, Trent Bridge and the two football grounds sit together across the river, and Sherwood and the Peak District are inside an hour. For a compact city there is more within reach than there appears to be.

No. This is a booking, not a tenancy, so there is no referencing, no guarantor and no protected deposit scheme. Some properties hold a small damage deposit released after checkout, and we say so before you book rather than after.
I am on nights. Can I actually sleep during the day?
That is the question worth asking and most listings dodge it. Ask us about the specific flat: which way the bedroom faces, whether it is on a main road, what the blackout is like. We would rather have that conversation before you book than have you lying awake at two in the afternoon.
How long can I stay?
From a couple of weeks to several months, and the rate improves the longer it runs. Tell us the full length of the rotation at the start and we will price it that way rather than you extending a week at a time.
