A month is not a long holiday
Two nights somewhere and two months somewhere are different products, and people book the first then live in the second. Over a month what matters is storage for the clothes you actually brought, a sofa you can sit on all evening, a kitchen you can cook properly in, and somewhere to put an empty suitcase that is not the middle of the floor.
The big shop is the first problem
The city centre runs on small convenience supermarkets, which are fine for a night and expensive over a month. A proper weekly shop means a delivery slot, a tram, or a drive out to one of the larger stores on the edge. Sorting that in the first week, rather than buying dinner at a corner shop every evening, is what keeps the monthly figure sensible.
Washing, and where it dries
Very few flats here have a separate dryer. Most have a washer dryer in one drum that takes hours and still leaves things damp, and launderettes in the centre are thinner on the ground than you would expect. Over a month that means a rack, some patience and not overfilling the machine. It is mundane, and it is what people complain about most.
The car mostly sits still
Inside the core you walk to nearly everything, and a car becomes an expensive parked object you move for street cleaning. Plenty of people staying a few months leave it at home or give up the space, then hire one for the weekends they actually need it, which often costs less over the stay than a city centre parking bay.
It gets dark at four in December
The rain gets talked about and the dark does not. From November the light goes mid afternoon, and if your flat has one window looking into a light well you will feel it by week three. On a stay that crosses winter, natural light, heating you can control and somewhere pleasant to sit indoors stop being extras and become the whole thing.
The Peak District is closer than you think
Edale, Hope and Marple are on the lines out of Piccadilly and put you at the start of a proper walk in about an hour, with no car involved. That is one of the best things about a long stay here and the thing people staying for work almost never use. Two or three Saturdays out there change how a three month stint feels.
The week you stop being a visitor
It tends to happen around week three. You have a coffee place, a route you walk or run, a gym you joined on a rolling month, and you have stopped checking the map to get home. From then on you judge the flat as a home rather than as accommodation, which is a much harder test and the right one to book against.
The things a photograph will not tell you
Which floor it is on, whether the lift works, how the heating is controlled, where the bins go, whether the bedroom faces a road carrying taxis until three. None of that appears in a wide angle shot of a tidy living room, and all of it is what you live with from week two onwards. Ask about the specific flat, not the building.

Can I park in Manchester?
Most of the city centre is permit or paid parking and a lot of apartment blocks have no allocated space at all. If you are bringing a car, ask about the specific property, because it is the single most common thing people get wrong here.
How easy is it to get around Manchester without a car?
Metrolink reaches Altrincham, Bury, Rochdale, MediaCity and the airport from the middle of the city, and Piccadilly puts London inside two hours.
What is there to do in Manchester on a day off?
The Northern Quarter, Ancoats, Castlefield and the museums are all walkable from a central base, and the Peak District is inside an hour by train or car. On a long stay the Peaks are what most people end up using at weekends.

Is there a deposit, referencing or a credit check?
No. This is a booking, not a tenancy, so there is no referencing, no guarantor and no protected deposit scheme to get your money back out of at the end. Some properties hold a small damage deposit that is released after checkout, and we will say so before you book rather than after.
Are bills and council tax included?
