That is usually what starts this conversation. Hotel rates on a Monday to Thursday pattern, multiplied across a project, become visible in a way that a serviced apartment does not, and the hotel gives you a room, a kettle and a breakfast you are too early for. An apartment costs less across the same period and is a better place to spend three months. It suits you if:

The professional district is compact
Colmore Row, Snow Hill, Temple Row and the newer blocks at Paradise and Centenary Square sit within a few minutes of each other, and Brindleyplace is a short walk along the canal from there. If your client site is anywhere in that district you can walk to it from most central apartments, which matters a great deal more in February than it does in June.
Two stations, five minutes apart
New Street and Moor Street are close enough to walk between, but they are not interchangeable. New Street carries the Avanti and CrossCountry services along with the local Cross City Line. Moor Street is the Chiltern route to London Marylebone, slower than the fast trains and usually much calmer. Snow Hill, a little further north, covers the same corridor and has a tram stop outside.
The tram, and what it does not do
The West Midlands Metro runs from Wolverhampton through West Bromwich and the Jewellery Quarter into the centre, then out to Edgbaston Village. It is genuinely useful along that one line and irrelevant everywhere else, which surprises people who arrive expecting a network. For most cross city journeys you are looking at a bus, a train out of New Street, or a car.
The NEC, the airport and Digbeth
If the project is at the NEC or Birmingham Business Park, Birmingham International station is next door and trains from New Street take a matter of minutes, so staying central works well. Digbeth is a different proposition. It is close to the centre on a map and changing quickly, but parts of it are still a building site while HS2 runs, so where you stay deserves real thought.
Where you will actually eat
Lunch in the professional district is Church Street, Temple Row and the arcades off Colmore Row, and it empties hard at around half past two. Evenings drift to Brindleyplace for the safe option, St Paul's Square in the Jewellery Quarter for something better, or Hurst Street and the Chinese Quarter when the team wants a late one. Digbeth is the interesting end and the least polished.
The centre changes on Friday night
The business core goes quiet at weekends because very few people live at the offices end of town. Broad Street is the exact opposite and stays loud on Friday and Saturday into the early hours. If you are staying over a weekend rather than going home, which side of the centre you are on stops being a detail and becomes most of the experience.
The airport is closer than expected
Birmingham Airport is one of the easier ones to work with from a central base. Trains run from New Street to Birmingham International, and a short automated shuttle takes you from the station straight into the terminal, so there is no bus and no long transfer at either end. On a project with weekly flights that is a real difference from the London airports.
Postcode buys you less here
The centre is compact enough that paying up for a particular address rarely buys you much time, because ten minutes on foot covers most of it. What actually shapes your week is the building itself: whether the desk is usable, whether the walls are thin, and whether the windows face a main road or the back. Those are the questions worth pressing on.

Where in Birmingham would I actually be?
Birmingham's professional district runs from Colmore Row through Snow Hill to Brindleyplace, with the Jewellery Quarter on its north western edge. Our Birmingham properties are in the Jewellery Quarter, which is ten minutes on foot from Colmore Row and considerably nicer to come home to.
Can I park in Birmingham?
The Clean Air Zone covers the city centre inside the A4540 ring road and charges older vehicles daily, which is a real cost if you are driving in every day. Check your vehicle before you book. Outside the zone it is ordinary city parking, tight in the residential streets and paid in the centre.
Which part of Birmingham should I be in?
Most of what you would need day to day sits in the Jewellery Quarter, the city core, Digbeth and Edgbaston. Tell us where you need to be each morning rather than which postcode you fancy, and we will be honest about what is close to it and what only looks close on a map.
How easy is it to get around Birmingham without a car?
New Street puts London inside an hour and twenty, the NEC and the airport are ten minutes on the train, and the tram runs through the centre.
What is there to do in Birmingham on a day off?
The canals, the Jewellery Quarter, Digbeth and the Bullring are all inside a walk of the core, and the Lickey Hills, Cannock Chase and Stratford are inside an hour. Birmingham rewards a bit of exploring on a long stay, because almost none of the good parts are the parts on a postcard.

What companies ask us before booking.
Can you invoice the company rather than me?
Yes, that is the normal arrangement. We invoice the company directly with the dates, the address and any purchase order reference, and VAT is shown properly. Give us the billing details when you book and it will be right first time rather than something you chase from a hotel lobby.
Do you do weekly or monthly corporate rates?
Yes. The rate drops as the stay gets longer and drops again beyond a month. For a Monday to Thursday pattern over a long project, talk to us rather than booking nights online, because there is usually a better way to structure it.
Can I actually work from the apartment?
Yes, and that is deliberate. There is desk space and proper wifi rather than a chair by a window and a connection that struggles with a video call. If you need to know the actual speed at a specific property before you commit, ask and we will tell you.
What if I arrive on the last train?
Fine. Check-in is self service with a code, so there is no reception to reach and nobody to wake up. Same for a five in the morning departure.
