Where the work actually sits
Work in Nottingham clusters rather than spreading evenly. There is the city centre itself, the Boots campus and the enterprise zone land out on the Beeston side, the industrial estates at Colwick to the east and Bulwell to the north, and the distribution sheds along the M1 corridor at junctions 24 to 26. Those are very different commutes from the same front door.
Broad Marsh is still moving
The south side of the centre has been a rolling site for years. The old Broadmarsh shopping centre came down, and the bus station, car park, library and college building went up in its place, with further phases still to come. The Island Quarter east of the station is the same story. Hoardings and road layouts around Collin Street and Canal Street keep changing.
Parking a van here
Sort this before anything else. Most city centre multi storeys have a height barrier, which rules out anything tall straight away. Streets around Lenton, Radford and Hyson Green are under permit pressure. Nottingham also charges employers a workplace parking levy, so spaces on site are often tighter than you expect. Off street parking is worth more here than an extra room.
Ring road, early start
The A6514 ring road loops the city and the A52 runs west towards Derby and the M1. Leave before seven and most of it is clear. Come back at half four and Clifton Boulevard past the Queen's Medical Centre is a known crawl, with the river crossings as the pinch point. The direction of your commute matters more than the distance.
Three bridges, one river
The Trent has very few road crossings inside the city. Clifton Bridge carries the A52, Trent Bridge carries the A60, Lady Bay Bridge takes the A6011, and after that you are well out east. When one of them has an incident the other two absorb the whole lot. If the site is south of the water and you sleep north of it, that is your daily risk.
Where a crew actually eats
Food in the centre is built around office lunch hours, which is no use for a six start or a four finish. The cafes near the industrial estates open earlier, and the late takeaways sit along Alfreton Road and Mansfield Road rather than in the middle of town. For a crew sharing a place, a decent fridge and a table beat a good postcode.
Staying on the wrong side
The usual mistake is taking somewhere central on price when the job is at Bulwell, Hucknall or out past Colwick, then crossing the whole city twice a day against the traffic. The middle of town also has bus lanes and restricted streets that a van tends to meet the hard way. Sitting on the right arc of the ring road beats being near the shops.
October and December change everything
Two fixtures reshape the city. Goose Fair takes over the Forest Recreation Ground in early October, which removes that park and ride and loads Mansfield Road for the best part of a week. The Christmas market holds Old Market Square for much of December. Both change deliveries, parking and the routes through the middle, and both catch out anyone who learned the place in August.

Where in Nottingham would I actually be?
Nottingham's centre is small enough to cross in twenty minutes on foot, with the professional district, the Lace Market and Hockley all inside it. Most of the business demand here is health, higher education and the science park rather than corporate finance.
Can I park in Nottingham?
City centre parking is paid and the residential streets close in are permit zones. The tram and the park and ride sites take most of the pain out of it if you are commuting to the edge of the city, and are worth using rather than driving into the middle twice a day.
Which part of Nottingham should I be in?

The Castle, Wollaton, the Lace Market and the arena are all central, Trent Bridge and the two football grounds sit together across the river, and Sherwood and the Peak District are inside an hour. For a compact city there is more within reach than there appears to be.

At some properties, and it is the first thing to ask. Tell us what you are driving when you enquire and we will put you somewhere it actually fits rather than somewhere the listing photo suggests it might.
How many can stay?
It depends on the property, and most of ours sleep four in separate rooms. For a bigger crew we can often put you in two properties close together. Message reservations rather than trying to make the calendar do it.
What about early starts and late finishes?
Check-in is a code, so there is no reception to reach and nobody to wake up. Leaving at half five is nobody's business but yours.
